I’m very excited to have the new Sea Kayaker magazine cover that is on stands now. The photo is from a week long sea kayaking and fly fishing trip through Bahama’s Exuma Islands. The area is a tropical paradise perfect for kayaking and I would love to do another trip there!

I hiked up to Silver lake this morning with Mike and the dogs for a little fly fishing. The hillsides are starting to turn color already and I think I will have to make another trip up here soon to shoot somephotos with good lighting. I’m heading out for three days or so to do some more fly fishing and kayaking so I won’t be posting for a bit. Hopefully this weather holds!

This is another shot from the other night up at Little Molas lake as the storm was clearing in the evening. These Ducks must get fed by campers because every time I would walk to the beach they would swim right over to me, no fear. My Dog had a lot of fun with them.

It’s beautiful out this morning so I’m going to procrastinate on my computer work and get back into the mountains. I might head back to the Telluride area today but I’m having a hard time leaving the Silverton area, maybe one more day…

It was storming most of the day and cleared right at sunset yesterday, perfect timing. This is Molas lake just down from Little Molas lake where I was the other night. Both of these lakes are a close drive from Silverton and are really fun to explore. Just like the other night, I have many different images of this scene with the light changing so quickly and I’m not sure which one is my favorite.

Here is another one from last night. I took a lot of shots that all have a little different light and composition to them and I’m not sure which ones I like best. I had just ordered a new 3 stop graduated neutral density filter to replace my old beaten up one and got some use out of it here. I was debating weather to get a hard or soft edge filter and chose the soft edge that I have had in the past. I really like the smooth transition that the soft edge provides.

I camped last night up at Little Molas lake near Silverton. I was treated to a great sunset and got some nice images. I was planning on heading out from the lake to go backpacking on the Colorado trail for a night or two but I woke up this morning to heavy rains. I came down into Silverton to get some coffee and get out of the rain. I think I might head back up to the lake a fish this evening, someone told me that a guy pulled a 20 inch Brook trout out of the lake recently!

This is an old mining building in the Alta ghost town that I have shot photos of in B&W before but I also think it works in color. The mountain that is framed in the window is Mt Wilson.

I have been camping up at Alta Lakes for the past three night with some friends fishing, hiking, and kayaking. The weather has been perfect and the fish are going crazy. For a place that you can drive to and camp at this has to be one of the most beautiful in the country!

Here is another shot from last night. This is looking down at the upper Blue lake right before the sun was setting behind the mountains. There was a great patch of wildflowers on this hillside, most of the flowers in the area have wilted but at this elevation they were still holding on.
