Wild Cutthroat
Part of what I like most about backpacking is the chance to fish for wild trout in remote high alpine lakes. This is one of the nicest Cuts I have ever caught and it was on my 3 weight creek fishing rod, quite the fight…

Just returned from a fabulous backpacking trip to the Gore range near Vail Colorado. The weather was perfect and it was great to explore a new area in Colorado. The shot above is Gore lake at sunset.
I very excited to have the cover of the new Osprey catalog! Best packs I have ever used and a great company. I’m on my way out the door, heading up to the Gore range for a 3 day backpacking trip. Won’t be able to post until I return this weekend.
This is a shot from the Valley Floor the other night at sunset. I have been eyeing this little pond/marsh for some time and finally got around to shooting it. I ended up having to hike into the stinky marsh a little ways to get the shot I wanted. There were a few nice size trout rising in this tiny water as I was shooting, I might have to get some fly fishing shots from here soon.
On my way out to shoot another amazing sunset last night I took a few shots of this Paraglider landing on the Valley Floor. I have some great sunset shots of the mountains behind town reflecting into a small pond but I actually really like this shot the best…
This is another shot from my Wyoming fishing trip last week. We were camped in the high desert above a spectacular trout creek one night when we got some really cool clouds just after dusk. This is a long exposure of the Sage bushes a little while after the sun went down.
I got out the other day and climbed Wilson Peak, a popular 14ner near Telluride in the San Juan’s. It turned out to be a brilliant day and we were able to take our time on top and not have to worry about weather rolling in on us, a rarity for climbing high mountains in the San Jauns in the summer.
I have been slacking a bit on my blog posts but have been spending a lot of time out shooting lately. I’m going to really try hard to post every day that I have access to a computer from now on… Anyway, the shot above is a hiker on a ridge looking into Bridal Veil basin the other night at sunset. We have been having some killer light at sunset lately and hopefully it will keep up and I will continue to explore new angles with great light.
I just returned from a great fly fishing trip to Southern Wyoming. The fishing was out of this world and we had areas like the above photo all to ourselves. I think this area rivals Montana for the best trout fishing in the continental US. I can’t wait to get back up there…
