Trail Running Blur
I recently got some new hydration packs to shoot with a deadline of Monday. I have been putting them on friends and hitting the mountains to get some shots. It’s hard to get people to rally early in the morning so at first light today I went solo up to the saddle of the Cross mountain trail and shot some photos of myself with one of the packs trail running. This is one of my favorite spots to shoot because it gets great morning light and there are three 14 thousand foot mountains right in your face. I was playing with the photos a bit in Photoshop and decided to try a blur technique that I have never used before. The image above has been “blurred” except for the area around me. I really like the effect for this photo in isolating the runner (me) and the pack that I’m trying to shoot. The effect is very similar to a tilt-shift lens but without spending two grand!
