I think these two actually managed to have more fun in White Dunes than I did.

I’m back on the road in New Mexico. I spent a few days in White Sands National Monument down in southern NM hiking around and camping. This was my first time in the area and had lots of fun in the sunny warm weather. The image above was taken a few days ago right before the sun set behind the San Andres mountains.

Izzy’s first backpacking experience went very well.  She is constant entertainment while trying to jump from rock to rock all day long.

Just returned from a little backpacking trip to the Bisti Badlands in New Mexico.  Perfectly sunny and warm weather was exactly what I was looking for.  I have visited this area a few times and it’s quickly becoming a favorite of mine.

Red River Rainbow

This is a monster Bow that I caught in the Red river on my New Mexico trip.  Having a fish this size on a fly rod in very fast moving water is a blast!  We were mostly fishing dry-dropper set ups but all of the bigger fish were taking the nymphs, in this case a size 14 bead head red copper john.  I highly recommend this river to anyone traveling in the Taos area.

Rio Grande Gorge

I got back from New Mexico last night as the sunny weather turned to snow in Colorado.  The trip was amazing with sunny weather and a good amount of fish.  The photo above is Mike climbing out of a remote section of the Rio Grande Gorge.  The “Grande” was originally the focal point of our trip but the fishing down there was fairly slow.  We ended up fishing the Red river, a small tributary of the Grande, and did very well.  I will post some more photos of the trip in the next few days.
