Wow, what a great year. 2011 flew by and as I look forward to new opportunities and adventures in the coming year it’s always helpful to take a minute to look back over the last year. These are my favorites from the past year, probably more for sentimental value than actual image quality but anyways here they are…

Olympic National Park
Traveling through the Pacific Northwest I experienced long periods of socked in weather with a fleeting moment of brilliant perfect light. It required patience at a whole new level to stay at a great spot and wait for the right light. I really like to move on if the weather gets bad so I struggled a bit making myself wait out the weather. The above photo is from 2nd beach in Olympic National Park. This sunset was one of the best on my trip as the storm was clearing.

Oregon Coast
I’m up on the Olympic peninsula now but I have not posted for a while so I thought I would share this shot from the southern Oregon coast I took last week. It’s such a rugged and wild coastline with amazing scenery around every corner. The shot above is from Whaleshead beach where a beautiful little unnamed creek comes flowing down into the ocean after the heavy rains I experienced for the past few days.

California’s Lost Coast
I spent a few more nights camping along the Lost Coast and shooting photos. It’s such a wild a remote place, one of my favorites on the trip so far. It has started raining really hard and looks like I looking at a few more drenched days. I’m making my way up to the Oregon coast at a slow pace due to 3 flat tires so far…

Road Trip
I have been on the road , and river, since April 3rd and things are going great. The 5 day river trip on the Green river turned out to be a little more of an adventure than I though it would. A giant storm system moved in on us and we battled very high winds which made the paddling interesting. From there I wondered through Nevada and on to Northern California where I am now. I’m digging the road life, living out of my car with my 2 dogs getting back to the simple life. I was at the Lost Coast yesterday when I got a flat tire so I had to come back to town to take care of it. I plan on heading back to the remote shore later today and will camp there for a few.

Skiing Waterfall Chute
Made it out for a great ski yesterday as we keep getting little storms every 2-3 days. The photo above is Mike Munno skiing waterfall chute in Bear Creek. To get this shot I had to hike out on top of the cliff and then hold onto a branch with my left hand as I hang out over the cliff and shoot Mike skiing down the chute, very fun. We have less then a week of the Telluride Ski Resort being open and it looks like the good skiing should hold through.

Sheep mountain sunrise
I spent the night camping behind Trout lake two nights ago to take some early morning shots and was able to get a few good images before a storm rolled in.

Aspen Abstract
Aspens are one of my favorite subjects to shoot and it seems like there are endless interesting ways and angles to shoot them. This image is an abstract of a beautiful aspen grove on Wilson mesa.
